MEET ERIN
Erin Strader grew up riding in Michigan where, as a high school student, she happened upon an eventing trainer and became hooked on the sport. While studying at Hope College in Michigan, Erin continued riding as a working student, and in 2013, she competed in the CCI2* Young Rider division of the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (now the North American Youth Championships), finishing with a team silver medal and fourth individually. After completing her bachelor’s degree in education, Erin began working as a barn manager and trainer at the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center. There, Erin rode more than 80 OTTBs, helping them to find their next careers after racing.
Erin’s current mount is an Irish Sport Horse mare, Live and Learn, and after joining the Phillip Dutton Eventing team in 2021 as the head rider, Erin and “Livey” made the move up to Advanced, competing in their first CCI4* at Morven Park in August 2021. Since then Live and Learn has competed at the advanced and CCI4* level and including a win in the advanced level at Ocala International event in 2024. Her other mount, Troisade, has made the move up to prelim and is showing a bright future ahead of him. After going out on her own in 2022 Erin's business is focused on lessons, training and sales based in Lexington, Kentucky.
